Problems and Treatment in the Production Process of PE Pipes
March 30 , 2023With the continuous advancement of technology, PE pipe machine are widely used in all aspects of production and life due to their unique advantages, such as building water supply, construction drainage, buried gas transmission and distribution, gas pipelines, electrical and telecommunications protective casing, industrial pipes, agricultural pipes, etc. So, what problems may be encountered in the process of producing PE pipes? This article will list some problems that may occur in the production process and give corresponding solutions.
First of all, the normal appearance of PE pipe should be smooth and symmetrical, and PE pipe extruder make the specific manifestation is smooth appearance, flat and uniform, and consistent color. As shown in the following figure.
However, various problems can arise during the production process, such as:
a) The surface of the pipe is rough
b) Groove marks appear on the outer surface of the pipe
c) Groove marks appear on the inner surface of the pipe
The specific solution is as follows
a) The surface of the pipe is rough
Adjust the process temperature. The problem is generally caused by low temperature.
Increase cooling water temperature or production speed.
Check whether the waterway is blocked or the water pressure is uneven, resulting in water punting and roughness on the pipe surface. Or check if the water pressure is too high and the cooling rate is too fast.
Check whether the heating ring of the barrel and head is damaged, resulting in insufficient processing temperature.
Adjust the inlet flow rate of the sizing sleeve.
Consult the raw material supplier for the raw material parameters of this batch (melt size, processing temperature, etc.)
Check the temperature of the mold core, if it is higher than the temperature of the outlet die section, increase or decrease the core temperature.
Clean the mold (0.5-1CM in the core mold is particularly prone to coke and cause the surface to be unpolished).
Adjust the distance between the sizing sleeve and the outlet die, the closer the distance, the smoother the pipe surface.
Adjusting the formula; The problem is generally caused by the poor ratio of low melting finger and high melting finger material.
b) Groove marks appear on the outer surface of the pipe
Adjust the outlet pressure of the sizing sleeve, the water output is required to be balanced, and the excessive amount of water can easily cause the ditch.
Adjust the angle of the nozzle in the vacuum calibration tank to make the pipe cool evenly.
Check whether there are debris, burrs, etc. in hardware such as outlet dies, sizing sleeves, cutting machines, etc.
When replacing raw materials, it will also form striped grooves, which will take time to improve. When changing the raw materials (such as MPP for PE), it is necessary to wash the PE pipe extrusion line barrel with about 200KG of pure material with low melt finger, wash other materials in the barrel, and then use formula material to produce.
c) Groove marks appear on the inner surface of the pipe
Check whether the inner pipe is flooded with water, and if water ingress, squeeze the pipe blank that has just been exported to the mold firmly to close its inner cavity. Large diameters must be stopped to drain the water before starting up, or a dike is used to prevent water from pouring into the newly connected pipe.
Reduce the internal temperature of the mold.
Clean and repair the polishing mold, as the mold may have a backlog of coke.
Excessive downtime causes the low temperature of the core mold, or lead to mold scaling.
